Temporary lanes closures on West Colfax Avenue
Temporary lanes closures have begun on West Colfax Avenue between Pierce and Lamar streets for work on two significant projects in the corridor. These projects are the
North Dry Gulch Improvement Project to address flooding issues in the corridor and the
West Colfax Safety Project to address traffic and pedestrian safety in the corridor.
These closures will limit left turns at intersections, and it will require the closure of through traffic on Newland. These temporary closures are expected to be in place for several months.
The lane closures are needed to conduct work on gas mains and other utilities, followed by installation of a large culvert pipe across the width of West Colfax, which will lead to additional temporary lane closures in the coming months.
Currently the westbound “inside” left lane next to the median is closed for this work. Closures of the eastbound “inside” lane will begin later this month.
